As title has anyone got an old but working c/heating pump kicking about their garage?

My lathe is working lovely but needs some coolant to do anything with steel, I'm trying to avoid laying out £100 on a proper suds pump, so fancy rigging up an old c/h pump if I can lay my hands on a cheap one and see if it will do the job.

I ask my plumber mate see if he has one.

Not very sunny swanage

If you can find or have a bilge pump from a boat, that will work fine as well tom. We have a big lathe a work that we fitted a bilge pump to, just take the two wires straight to a (usually dead) battery and connect a charger up. Its not as good as a propper set up, but for the use it gets, it works perfect!!

And on the 7th day........... God created turbochargers!

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

I've asked my plumber mate but he's about as reliable as a plumber. Quick search on the old ebay revealed this.

any good?

I thought coolant was a 50/50 mix of mineral oil & water but I may have got that wrong.

Soluble oil (whatever that is?) and water mix. I reckon a c/h pump should probably cope with it OK.
