Hi, I hope someone can help me, I have a metro turbo engine that I am planning on putting in my Scamp, I have part stripped the engine and had new valves etc, ..

I took the clutch off today to find that the main shaft that the centre nut bolts to is in no way looking good, I can only describe the damage as looking like someone has gone to work at it with an angle grinder creating a large flat spot, also there are many deep pits in the shaft like some metal has gone around it.

I am not very technical with engines but even I know this could be very bad, the cog that slides over the shaft is spinning fine and the damage is all on the other side of the retaining pin (tapered part of the shaft ).

He anyone ever experenced this before ? can any one offer advise, I really dont want to replace the crank :( .

Cheers

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Thanks guys, I did fear that *frown*

I have a 1275 standard engine I think im right in saying that this should be fine for a crank transplant .

It does anoy me that people can be so brutal when working on engines, there are various sheared bolts and studs around the engine that I have had to remove and tap etc .

Again thanks for the help :)

Nah, thats not fucked. at least the crank tail is still attached to the rest of the crank. with a little bit of clever welding you could repair that. There is nothing that could repair the carnk i found in a block.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
