I sold a car in September to the wife’s brother who insured it and used it. A couple of days ago we got a letter from our insurance company with a thank you for automatically renewing our policy. I am sure I cancelled it in September but have no proof.

It's illegal to have 2 policy's on one car. However the insurance company should be able to see there is another policy outstanding on it.

I'm sure you get a cooling off period when you take out/renew your insurance policy. Might be worth checking the old paperwork. I have cancelled the new policy so thats not a problem, We have both paid for insurance from september until now. Should I chase his or My insurance? |

You need to chase yours but get the details of the other persons policy to give to yours.
