So i'm now in the market for pistons, and i thought i saw the accralites on the avonbar site for £300 not so long ago. I've just been on avonbars site and they weren't there, then i found them on avrs site for £450. Am i going mad or has the price gone up?

http://www.av-rtechnologies.ipages.biz/_-A...duct/?pid=47826

If thats the best price for them, then i'm back to square one on which pistons to use.

Can anyone recommend pistons and a place to buy?
I'm after turbo pistons and in 1275 +20.

Cheers
George :)

Yep. Omega now own Accralite and have jacked up the price.

I think the forged omega's are even more than the accralites!!

I think cast omega' are probably your best bet.

I'd say the cast Omegas are more than up to the job for most folks. Since fitting mine over 2 years ago I've run a minimum of 15psi on the road and up to about 20psi on the rollers.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

you could use forged omegas but their price over 400 sheckels,

avonbar have comissiond a dozen sets but not for severall weeks and the price have gone up.

like phil says the omega cast ones are well proven!!!

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

10. 000 rpm is a little optomistic *Yes*

From my limited knowledge, I'd say something like the ultra lightweight forged omega's would be better suited.

No one will be able to tell you for sure if A piston will take the rpm AND the 18psi boost you intend. I doubt there has been anyone who has run such a combination knowing it. Fast Carl has run 9k plus with Minispares Mega pistons and I believe they may have touched 10k, but i would be sure that it was not under power.

You are pioneering what you are intending to build, and I would have thought that an engine builder should know what is required of a piston rather than asking on a public forum, but then that is just my opinion.

If you are building a motor as you intend, to do what you ask of it, I would have expected to use parts designed for the intended RPM rather than something off the shelf intended for more often than not 7k. Longer Saenz rods on 'S' big ends, custom pistons with 18mm pins from Wiseco and an aluminium or Titanium flywheel from Force Racing or a one peice swiftune steel flywheel as a last resort. 10k would then likely be a breeze in the park.

It was more to explore public opinion of the cast pistons and to invite some interesting conversation rather than to actually advise me on my engine build.

I am using Cosworth Pistons :)
