Hi am basicly just getting the parts for my turbo conversion and bought a maestro plenum chamber off ebay, only thing is its got the usual outlet for the intercooler but also another big hole in the top, which I'm guessing ill need to block?

A pic would be good mate.

Also, if I'm correct, you'll need a 37 mm dia restrictor plate between the carb and plenum to use on the mini unless a restrictor ring is not already present. See the threads by Turbo Dave on the use of the restrictor plate. Worked for me with my modified meastro plenum.

Richard.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Yeah, twas me Rubes.

And sadly no, I sold the one I modified to Gav (Madcatminis) in June. Was a bloody good plenum tbh. As long as the 37 mm orifice plate was used to give a slightly raised upstream pressure ahead of the carb. This 'upstream pressure' is needed to feed the float bowl via the drilling alongside the usual two plenum to carb holes. Without the orifice plate, the engine will stay lean when the boost comes on as the fuel pressure will not rise in the bowl above boost.

Here's a pic fitted and off the engine showing the mods I did. Two plates fitted (one being a straight through and the other the 37mm orifice) meant the rear of the plenum didnt catch the dashpot and it was darn easy to get to the needle when doing dyno work.

Cheers.

Richard.

I am led to believe it is the hole for your pop-off valve or bleed valve

That engine bay is gorgeous, I'm on my way to find a build thread !

The plenum pictured above is a NON-Turbo plenum. The Monetgo turbo used the same plenum as the metro WITH the restrictor ring, but a different outlet casting for the IC.

You could do what has been done above, but better and easier to buy the correct plenum.

Must admit. Seeing that black plenum does make me agree with Wil.

Probably worth getting a proper one or a stainless job from Nick Rizzardinis mate Hywell I think. Well worth it.

Good luck.

Richard.

Having now seen this other thread, it might be worth giving the seller a wide berth. http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.p...0249&lastpost=1
