What is it with shops these days... details

Order is £770.85 after discount, minifins are out of stock, my wife rings mini spares and say we do not want to pay anymore either VAT or Postage. Man goes listens says fine will go and see shipping and see if he can have from someone elses order .... she stresses again the postage and VAT increase, he says I'll sort it for you...then hear nothing...

I receive this today....

"Many Thanks for your recent order

As you may be aware, VAT goes up to 20% in January from 17.5%, at which point we have on file will be charged at the new rate. In order to keep your order at the price agreed, we have partially fulfilled your order, the rest of the order will follow in the New Year, unless you let us know otherwise

On behalf of sparesforminis, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year"

So not sorted... so will I be charged 20%VAT and extra postage? Phone call tomorrow. Why ask for a contact telephone number with the order... you could phone your customer...

Sorry to vent.... Annoyed... never had a problem with them before unlike sportmini.

Oh Merry Christmas everyone ;O)

it's not the de law that annoyed me it's the lack of phone call or the e-mail...they could say they tried to sort but sorry you'll have to pay x for the item and x for postage you want next year, thats what pisses me off.

Talk to me with details and acknowledge they were called.

you only pay 20% vat for service as of 4th Jan - if you pay for them in full now you pay 17.5% - even if you don't get them until the new year.

we've just had to go through all this regarding our invoices at work. If we issue an invoice for work in january that was completed prior to the increase, the invoice should be 17.5%. Accountant said so, so must be true!

Thats what we thought too Rob. thanks

Sorry Lucy (my wife) also told the chap the order can wait till everythings in so we don't pay extra postage.

I'll spend more money and call them tomorrow. Why can't they call me as I'm the customer sending £770 or send a mail with more detail.

3 sleeps till Christmas ;O)

According to the link below you are wrong, you have to take the goods away or despatch them before the 4th of Jan.

You can pay the 17.5 % on everything before the 4th and then you will need to pay 20% for the rest of the goods after. HMG have also made sure that you can't use a "large" deposit either, however I think you can pay a reasonable deposit so you could save a bit there it the company will allow you.

section 2.6 covers this - there is a differance between a deposit and paying for an item in full

not as I read it - Anti forestalling legislation isn't as it reads on the surface

we'll agree to disagree!

I love this country.

The thing about the VAT is, that if the bloke selling the parts honoured his price all he would have to do is give you a discount, job done. Its only about 20 notes different for the full amount, although I agree it is the principal.

Right sorted spoke to Andy something.
My order has been invoiced therefore it must have been or is being sent without the minifins... so e-mail asking me to call gives me 3 business hours to call them to discuss then they do what they want.
So Andy will put a no carriage charge on the order and the minifins will be charged at 20% VAT when they come in.
He said I can not pay for them now in full as it's against the law. £1.25 extra, ok not alot but still extra. Have kept the back order due to charge being free.

As someone said above someone would just discount the item for good customer service. but hey ho..

My Spares for Minis order only took 10 days to be delivered as they sent to Droitwich from Potters Bar so they could deliver it to my work in West London

Correct me if I'm wrong but is the issue here that they don't have the Minifins in so need to order specially? So if they keep the whole order back and send once the brakes are in then you pay 20% VAT and if they send them without it's 17.5%??

I'm not sure I see the problem? They can't keep everything back until the minifins are in but still charge 17.5%, that's against the law. I've got the same issue at work, members want to pay for stock now and have it delivered next year to save the 2.5% increase. We can't do it and neither can Sparesforminis.

Why don't you buy the Minifins elsewhere if you need to?

Order arrived whoop...it's a great big box.... It's being opened tomorrow like a big present to myself. Mini the minx - it's just the customer service issue more than anything...re-read my posts. But you maybe able to help, can you tell me where to buy minifins for £49?
Thanks M....
Steve I know what you mean. I know the replacement for the Alpina will a small engineed car and the mini will be the last fast car I own... until I pay the mortgage off. Lets see what happens in the coming years.
