A turbo will boost to whatever you set the actuator to. Within reason of course.

You need to decide on a safe boost to run with the engine that you have, and make sure that it is setup to fuel correctly.

i would only run about 8psi then imo without destroying the box or the drop gears! but that is just my opinion, i dont know what everyone else thinks?

standard mini gearbox's are safe up to about 130bhp, obviously t your own risk, i am at this sort of power atm, and im saving up for a sc box.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

you will find if power levels approach above what has been mentioned, with your standard box third gear and the head set will shat its selfe, followed by the diff and the drop gears,

there are many ways around this, SC drops, standard box xpin diff....or sc gearset, helicals drops and
xpin diff

please dont froget the clutch especially if its tired

I think 130 is abit optimistic tbh. I'd say around the 100bhp mark give or take.

100bhp seems low as a gearbox destroyer. The Metro turbo had 94bhp and ran for may thousands of miles with no problem.

I run 110+ on a very used 1275 box, with no issues yet (probably done 8 to 10k miles).

The diff is the weak point, you will need a cross pin.

wil_h i dont think he ment 100 as the gearbox threshold i think he ment 100 as expected power output.

but id even say that is a little low im running t2 12psi on a engine with 8.0 cr this outputs 120bhp at the wheels.
this has been running std drops and gears with x-pin dif for a few years now no problems

im just at the moment building a new sc gearbox for it as i am upping the power

The standard used helical box in in our van is surviving with about 150 angry bananas and 170 curly wurlys being abused through it. It has s/c drops and a 4 pin diff though.

We don't drive it gently...

the worst it will have to do now is shunt the van in and out of the garage....

At the build time I would not use std cam, it's just been made to moove a low mower,
secound hand mg n/a one will swit it nicely, giving a lot more uuumps for the same boost
