Hi,
I've just bought myself a car with a MG metro turbo engine fitted. This looks like just the place to gather wisdom and support as I reach for the 200bhp that the guy at AvonBar racing promised was achievable *tongue*
However, I haven't bought a Mini! *surprised*, I've got myself a GTM Rossa - thats a kit car if you haven't come across them.
I do however own a mini - well sort off. It was a MiniX racer, but hasn't actually left the garage for err well nearly ten years now. One day however, phoenix like, it will be re-born, perhaps to win the best novice racer once more (everybody wins that eventually as part of loosing the novice status!).

So will you welcome me with warm tea and sympathy, or am I the spawn of Satan for putting such a noble engine is a yellow plastic thing!

Until browsing here I was thinking that a Megasquirt driven Fuel injection project might be on the cards as a way to get the fuel system ready for increased boost. Little did I know the pitfalls of the 5 port head. Is getting the SU to flow right for more boost an easy task?

Jimbo.

Of course you will be welcome, as for the SU, the bog standard metro turbo carb will flow enough air for well over 200bhp. The only thing i would do is change the butterfly for a solid one (getting rid of restrictive poppet valve) and of course changing the needle profile to suit engine which a decent rolling road will sort out.

Hello.

Have you giot an intercooler? you'll need one fot 200bhp, and I'd like to see the piping to get on to fit at the front of your car. he he

Ford RS200 intercooler positioning springs to mind though.

Excellent,
I collect the car this week end. Currently the motor is basically standard spec Metro turbo. I do like the idea of the roof mounted intercooler. The car is meant to be a bit of fun, so this is just the right image *happy*

Lots of questions, but I'll use the search feature to start with. First of all a general health check is the order of the day.

Its a lovely yellow colour *tongue*

Looks like a good example.

An intercooler at the back of the roof could work well if done properly.

A friend of mine has got a RS200 intercooler which Will Gollop crashed of Martin Schankes RS200 fifteen years ago. Don't ask me how, and it's NOT for sale :)

Hi, welcome :)

A good while back I followed a red, turbo'd one of these in my 8 port mini. It made a lasting impression on me as there was no way I could keep up with it!

Top car.

OK, I'll ask the first question before doing the searches!

To get an intercooler on the roof will mean a fair few feet of pipes from the turbo and back to the carb. Won't that mean a big increase in turbo lag.

On the subject, is their a turbo 'bible' I should buy. I've got Vizard, but there's not a lot on Turbos.
