i dont think we have done this before but i feel it would be interesting, basically what ECU do you run and how do you like it, does it do everything you want, is it easy or hard to set up, whats the software like ect, would you buy another.

i have entered this as a poll that way we can see how many of each ECU we run, not for what you would like.

if theres any i have missed let me know and i will add to the poll

I've got a megajolt for mine but in honesty, I've not wired it up yet so not able to comment on performance yet

From the list, I have used, wired, mapped, DTA and Emerald, both I would happily use again. Omex I haven't wired but have messed with and is on a par with DTA and Emerald.

Weber Alpha can only be mapped and/or adjusted by a registered dealer, old hat now so steer clear is my advice.

Finally Motec and Pectel are proper bits of kit that will do far more than you will ever require, with the associated price tag.

Megajolt.

Very impressed. Easy to install, easy to use, cheap, reliable and does everything I need.

Only used one emerald ecu to control ignition , reliable, easy , good price tag, complete (didn't used all the function I could have).
Next: first which sort a programmable ecu/software for the mpi will have my vote.

Previous VEMS. Very good kit, does everything you need (except for siamese code), but demands a bit of reading to get round to.

Now Autronic SM3, Autronic is up there with Motec, I only swapped as the guy who will do my mapping swears by it. Software easy to understand but looks very old fashioned. Will do everything you want, and more!

Betwix Harrogate and York

Used MS for years and for the price it's very good, excellent infact.

I'm currently installing an SC Tornado, very impressed so far, but not properly used in anger yet.

Ms and love it, at the time of purchase ( was a student) was all I could afford, and tbo even though I still run a verry old version it still meets my needs :) money well spent! Bit of a pig to set up though compared to a more modern ecu due to my requirements for cop etc as you have to add your own driver hardware , but then the fact that I can add my own features is a massive bonus without upgrading to another ecu at great expense :)

I've used megajolt in the past on my 1330 supercharged mk1 a was great.

I decided to try something new this time and have gone down a very different route. I have built the Jaycar ignition kit, uses a variety of engine triggers and I thought that I could use the (says you can) the points - didn't work at all, missing all over the place. This is from the high voltage crossing over and retriggering the ecu. So I've got a hall sensor on order, I tried an electronic kit that worked brilliantly until it burnt out (no load from a coil) so I know it works well.

It's a kit that you need to build, you need the ignition module, a coil driver and the plug in display module.

It's totally programmable (much the same as a megajolt) with 15 x 15 map with the possibility of dash switched maps (2). You can have a knock sensor (additional module) that retards the ignition to your requirement.

All with no need for a lap top, all programed from a display module.

My main reason for choosing this kit was I was trying to build a 998 turbo on a budget. The budget has been and gone. The kit (4 kits - ingition, coil driver, display, and knock sensor) cost £75.
