Without tying it into the sides of the casing, it seems a bit pointless.

Ive seen similar things before, I dont think its a bad idea personally. The floor of the case has massive strength with the cooling fins, it'll stop the pinion climbing the crownwheel
I seriously doubt it! |

I guess the idea was the same as the bearing supports you can already buy now. Yes good thinking, the floor isn't that thick really. Best 1/4 mile 13.2 seconds @116 mph

Out of interest do you have a pinion support Matt? I would have thought with your torque and a 2.95 you will give the box a real hard time. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

imo that will be doing absolutely fook all 99% of the time, its only when the pinion tries to climb the crown wheel ie the point where the standard case begins to flex it would then be an extra support reducing the bearing load from the main double roller bearing potentially allowing higher stresses to be endured, BUT imo it is also tied into the weakest part of the case with what look like m8-ish sized bolts i doubt it will help much in that particular install not to mention the heli's
Yes i moved to the darkside |
