My neighbours upstairs are driving me mad! i can hear every bloody footstep, all they seem to do is walk about!, its not just the footsteps, i can hear their shite music and them talking, and at half 3 in the morning its not fun, especially as I get up at 5!

So other than killing them, my other idea is to get my bedroom ceiling soundproofed...but firstly I have no idea how much this will cost and secondly how effective this will actually be?

Has anyone any knowledge of this?

this is a very common problem, particularly with laminate floors etc. You could install a false ceiling - have a look at the british gypsum white book for some ideas. The concern with this is that sound can still be transmitted down the walls as well. It all depends on the contruction type as well.

they dont have laminate floors, they have carpet but it must be so thin, will look at british gypsum.

Ad, ive got some really good foam sheets,
made from the same stuff as a Snap on lay down matt, but thicker,

we could create a false ceiling come down 80mm with batton.
Fit the sheets
the replaster board and plaster,
£2-300 of bits max, and it will make a differance,
i can get the sheets for free, plaster board isnt loads.....

interesting stuff, will keep that in mind.

also its not like you'l notice as your only 5ft (legally a Dwarf)
so may as well use the space.
