Im in the middle of reskinning my mk1 door, the only thing left to do is finishing peening over the edges.

I don't have access to a panel beating dolly, is there anything else I could use to put up against the door skin to get a nice flat edge without creasing the outside of the skin?

Cheers
Matt

PM rosco454. He has my door skinning tool at the moment. Ask him to post it down to you when he's done with it.

Fine by me, sort it between yourselves. Won't be doing my doors for some time.

EDIT: If it's going with Royal Fail, can you send it recorded? ta *smiley*

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Thanks for the offers lads, but I chanced an aluminium block against the edge today and all is well!

Out of interest what does a door skinning tool look like?

Use any block of metal and put a couple of layers of gaffa tape on it. Use a large faced wooden mallet if you have one or atleast a large faced hammer. Being large means you dont need to hit it as many times as a small face hammer so there's less chance of damaging the skin.
I did a skin the other week at work (not a Mini), I was given 1.89hrs for it to remove the old skin, bond on the new one, knock over the flange and test fit on the car. I left no marks on the skin and the painters just wet on wet painted it - looked great, I only took 1.62hrs on it.

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

a bit like plumbers grips but with one small side with a relativly soft block and one side with a flat bar to do the squashing
