Is there a difference between a water temp gauge and a oil temp gauge? Or is it just the picture on the gauge face?

in fairnes i have oil and water temp gauges only visual difference is the 'oil' and 'water' on the faces

well the gauge i have goes from 35 to 110 if the oil gets that hot i know i need the oil cooler, if it doesn't i'm fine.
I can't find a smith oil temp at the moment.

the optimum oil and water temp for max power is oil 100c and water 74c

if you can keep it at that or near abouts your ...... in the good zone!

Which gauge ?

Temperature is temperature. Shouldnt matter what sticker is on the gauge face.

Only thing that will matter is quality of the gauge workings, and the sender unit accuracy etc.
