Hi,

Having had a bit of interest in the dimple press I made and a couple of people asking me to make them one,I thought I would see if anyone else would be interested buying them.

As the title suggests its a press that makes dimples,it works on ally sheet up to about 3.5 mm and steel about 1.5mm and below which is fine for just about anything you would want to make for a mini. The size I will be making is large enough to press dimples anywhere on door card size pieces with plenty of room to spare, even with a 1mx1m sheet there is only a small area round the edge that you cant get to.If required it can be made bigger on request. The dimples it presses are about 25mm across and about 5mm deep as shown below.

Price will be £80 each which includes a donation into the turbominis server fund.Delivery is available if needed at an extra cost.If your interested just let me know on here or by pm,if we get a few names then I will get the materials ordered up.

Cheers Ross.

Were your previous 12 posts as helpful as the your last one?

To be fair I knew someone would suggest either this or punches but I found they are hard to line up and distort the metal around the dimple.Ps your a cock.

Nothing to get all excited about, the post was about someone "stealing" his idea, so he didn't provide a picture.

If you really want one read this and follow the link it also contains

Ok thanks for that.

The reason for no photos is that I havnt made one of the same size I had hoped to sell yet,I dont expect people to hand over cash for something they havnt seen and the comment above was meant as banter. The one in the pic works in a similar way but isnt the same (I would say mine is better but then I suppose I would really wouldnt I).

If you have a problem with the price I dont know what else to do really as by the time a server fund donation comes off + the cost of materials I will be making £20 or so to put them together and run around to collect the bits which takes me a few hours so dont think its unreasonable.

Cheers Ross.

Edit due to crap spelling

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

They are meant to give rigidity and stop thin sheet from rattling etc but I did them as I thought they looked good and they tied in with the stuff done by vickers in the miglia.

Easiest way I can think of is the same principle as a flypress. 'U' shaped box section frame. Bottom tool use a piece of round tube. The internal diameter of the tube must be bigger than the diameter of the ball bearing (allow at least the thickness of the panel your forming). The bigger the diameter, the bigger the radius where the form meets the flat area of the panel. Top tool use a ball bearing with a flat plate welded approx' to the depth of the form you require. This will help flatten the edge of the form and stop distortion of the panel.
Weld the ball assembly to a piece of round bar. Drill a hole in the top of the frame for the bar to slide in. Fit a lever to the top of the bar, so when you pull down the lever it moves the bar down to create the form. You could just skip the lever and gently hammer the bar down to form your panel.

Heres a quick sketch, hope it makes sense...
