The temp sensor ranges from 0-90 degrees celcius i think, and they can be picked up pretty cheaply off the internet. Although i got given this one.

They run off the 5v rail in a PC for power and display, and thought about a temperature sensor in the mini, just out of curiosity.
So, the challenge of bringing 12v down to 5v wasnt as hard as i thought, so i bought a regulator and heatsink from maplins and got the soldering iron out. (hate soldering btw)

Just got to figure out where to mount it now....

And red hot blobs of solder bloody hurt :/

One picture is of it running off the molex in the pc, the other is with the soldered wires poked into the molex in the pc.

If anybody is wondering what regulator you need, its a t0220 7805. i think works from 24v down to 7v input, with a constant 5v output.

I've got a couple of them. going to stick them in the van, one just inside the outlet from the turbo and one just into the plendindindum.

Plenty of uses for them id have thought, even for normal air temperature use, it beats paying 20 quid for a crappy looking thing from halfrauds.
Just stick the probes in the hoses under a jubilee id have thought?

The refresh rate on the one ive got is pretty good, every second i think.
might poke mine in the rad top hose after extending the probe. Car never seems to run at temp, always cold so ill see if its the gauge thats being a pleb.
Even got an 88 stat in there, must just be the large impellor water pump, although i wont be sorry about that in the summer *happy*
