hi all

ive spent the best part of my day today replaceing the head gasket on my audi 80 after it failed yesterday.

the headgasket has been replaced and everything is back as it was, however it now wont start.

ive done the usual tests and compression is fine i have fuel but for some reason each spark plug only fires once and then nothing while turning over??

anyone seen this before?

it will occasionaly try to fire when i initially crank it over but then nothing and as i say inly one spark.

i dont no of any imobiliser on the car nut i there is one could this be causing my issue

cheers luke

does sound like some kind of imobliser problem, maybe a faulty ign coil?
check you have plugged everything back in properly.

Not good news, but if this is the same injection as a mk 2 golf gti 8v then they are very very sensitive to "spiking" the ecu due to missing or bad earths, commonly after major work, meaning they do exactly as you describe. I would try and get hold of another ecu if they are the same as the golf.

cheers guys for the reply, i cant find anything on an imobiliser so i guess i'll have a look into a possible ecu issue.
