What size pipes are all you out there using for the water supply and return ?

On the Saab from which I took my turbo, they were only 8mm, so I have at the moment used 8mm too, simply teeing off the feed to the heater and returning it further along the same pipe.

15mm seems a bit bulky and much harder to manipulate, at least in my configuration.

sliiight hi-jack but saves me making another topic:

how are people plumbing in the water cooling? i was thinking of running mine the same as n/a minis run the water heated inlet manifolds from the heater and then through to the heater valve. would this be a good way to do it?

and what fittings are people using on the turbo, banjo? i'm trying to find a straight union as in roberts gt17 thread, i've already asked him but he can't remember.
if anyone could point me in the right direction as to where to find the correct ones...

I,m using banjos, but I would have thought the brass fittings illustrated would be available from a plumbers supply place. The thread is 14mmx1.5 if you dont already know but Robert seems to have used a tapered thread item, going by the lack of sealing washers.

Matt, where are you routing the water to and from, please ?

Hi David, mine's 8mm as well.I break into the return from the heater matrix for supply and return, just don't turn the heater tap off!

'Where does the engine go?'

Im using an electric pump on mine, but its the equivalent of the feed coming off the bottom rad hose and the return goes to the top of the rad.

Thats what I thought Steve -thank you

Matt, your electric pump idea sounds good, but I think I will wait and see if I need it first.

TM comes up trumps again with all the answers !

I have the banjo ends of the SAAB pipes, and from memory they are 8mm OD.

The important thing is to take the feed from a high pressure area of the cooling system and return it to a low pressure area of the cooling system.

I have drilled a hole in the side of the block at No4 cylinder to take high pressure coolant from the block, up through the turbo then returning that into the top of the radiator.

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
