I'm so embarressed *blush* to be asking such lame questions!
I saw an oil pickup pipe on ebay, how much should I expect to pay? It's ?3.70 right now, and don't know what it's worth, and how often they come up.

Thanks for help, and potential biting of tongues...

The only thing i would say is that his picture does not show the gauze on the end of the pipe. Make sure its there as you wouldnt want to start sucking crap out the bottom of your gearbox into your new engine.

there are also some different makes out there, some of which can be more difficult to fit (so i've been told)

i'm sure the latest minispares one is ok though

Some cheaper ones are not an ideal fit. Basically, you need to make sure the flange that bolts up to the back of the gearbox sits completely flat against the gearbox casing flange. If it doesn't, you need to spend time filing it so it does fit.
Having even a small air leak here reduces the efficincy of the oil pump massively.
The latest minispares 'ST' oil pickup is a perfect fit first time. Not the cheapest out there, but definatley the best made.

Basically - if you buy a cheap one, you'll likely have to modify it a little. The minispares one will fit first time. Always check the flange sitting flush however!!!

Another tip - the tapped holes in the cheaper ones are sometimes so badly machined they just pull striaght through. I've drilled them out in the past and used slightly longer bolts with nylock nuts to secure the pipe assy.
