If they are vented then they are exactly the same as the turbo. Pretty much all mk2's had the same vented 4-pots.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

What year metro?

Very early Mk 1's had none vented disks with different callipers, then they moved to vented and none vented with the same callipers (spacers between the calliper halves for vented). All MK 2's had the same vented 4 pots. All turbos had the vented 4 pots.

i am not a fan of metro brakes, imo they dont stop any better than standard 2 pots with decent pads and disks, they also weigh in at 3 million tons.

I think the only noticable advantage to them is that they are vented so may hang on longer in a track application.

wolfie im afraid i dissagree with you i have upgraded from drums to 2 pots and now run mentro turbo 4 pots and i feel it has made a significant improvement, each upgrade.

i prefer the 4pots to the 2s and i had decent disks and pads on the 2s and have standard kit on the 4s

I,m with John and Wolfie on this as I went to a lot of trouble to adapt the vented discs and 4 pots as well as split circuits to my car and I dont think they are any better than the usual Midget discs and 2 pots.
Mind you, the Metro servo seems very weak and weary compared to the remote srvos I have used in the past.

There was originally 2 patterns on non vented Metro caliper. I'm pretty sure the vented calipers are the same as the non vented, other than the increased disc clearance. You could compare the part numbers for a piston seal kit for confirmation.

...I did 'cos I was curious, seals and pistons are the same

There where two types of calliper fitted to very early MK 1s. A chap on metro owners club has been spending a lot of time looking for the rarer ones.

Its personal choice, i went back to 2 pots and grooved disks after a metro setup and preferred the feel i am sure the stopping power was better also (both sets were refurbished)

I now run minispares 4 pots on machined down pagid 40 groove disks with 1144 pads and no servo best brakes ive ever had!

I had a set of the 'rare' ones. Type A and Type B they are generally listed as.

The rare ones are still bin fodder unless you are Metro Mk1 geek.

Edit: my experience is that they are no better than the standard mini calliper.

i was under the impression that there were 2 types of casting. there were the non vented, vented which were the non vented spec with spacers, and vented castings without spacers.

wolfi: i agree with u there everyone like different things. else evey car would be identical.

but that is interesting about the alloy ones i was wondering a while back weather to change to those calipers but wasnt sure if there would be much difference seing as bothe 4pots. might look in to it again.
(sorry for hyjack guys)
