hello everyone...

After having my engine rebuilt by some grease monkey i thought i could trust i today took it for its first test drive.... to my surprise half way through the drive the car started loosing power, would stall at stops, would rarely start back up just after stalling. well i managed to get home, and started looking for the problem, and to my surprise i have water in the third and fourth chamber, just plain water, no oil, no petrol. any know what can cause this? broken head gasket? something more serious? so now the head coming off, and i want to upgrade it a bit.

So since I'm a bit new to this i was wondering what would the spec be for a fast road head. valve, springs everything and everything i should upgrade and to what. i usually get my stuff from mini spares as they ship overseas. so any help will be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance

cheers

rant over!

What part of the world are you living in C2,

A minium upgrad would be to fit bronze valve guinds, a set of single collet valves maby 36/29 a set of rubble springs and maby a clean up of the ports.

I find the easiest way is to super glue the bolt to the end of one of my fingers.

My sister is so fit I won't show anyone her picture

For a really basic upgrade on a budget, & if you're only going to run fairly low boost.
I would fit the larger MG Metro sized inlet valve {35.6mm} with the standard sodium ex valve, the iron guides can be retained. Chambers should be deshrouded, some basic port work with guide bosses ground away and the port & throat opened to suit the larger inlet, short side blended, bulletnose the guides etc
If you have the Vizard book & the time/money/tools follow the info in there & back cut the valves & modify the seats etc
Upgrade to the stainless exhaust valves in bronze guides if you're looking to run high boost levels.

hi phil...

thanks for the reply... have been looking for the parts you and paulh mentioned. defenitly going down that route*wink* thanks for the advice.

one more quick question, will a decent machinist know what to do to the head, or will i have to tell him what needs doing, and how much needs taking away?
