hi guys,

looking for advise on removing/fitting diff bearings
i have the crownwheel from the useless diff, just cut the bearing off that, i am now trying to take the bearing off the diff ill be using, i dont have a press or any pullers, as im sure plenty of you have removed these bearing for many reason and with you all being helpfuls guys and girl. i was hoping you could suggest a way in which it could help me sort this out as i havent really found much in the useful search facilty provided

if the inner race is tight, I usually use a bit of heat and the 2 arm puller on the bearing splitter although you could use levers. I generally don't re-use them though as the heat normally affects the cage

Put a cold chisel between the crown wheel and the bearing

Ok lovely job guys, is a press required for fitting the bearings as they are sounding a little bit like wheel bearings

Press makes it easy, a big vice will do it though, or hammer and drift.

Thanks guys, i will get involved, I take it it will need some good force then no pansy-ing around with getting it off

I like the sound of sliding in/out with a good tight fit though

I've had one that was a PITA the get off once. Bit naughty but I put a crow bar down the back and it just slid off with that!

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.
