Lisa has started up in business, we have a almost new pc and laptop at home with a linksys router and virgin cable broadband, everything works fine and we never have issues with speed, connection or pages not loading.

Lisa has had a company sort out website and email.

The problem arises when trying to load up the email portal page you just get:
Unable to connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at

* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Thing is her business partner can access no problem and i can access from work no problem but get the same message from either pc at home regardless of browser used.

Any ideas?

Leyland, Lancs

Sounds like a DNS issue.

First open up command prompt and type the following:

ipconfig /flushdns

The space should be there. Then reboot the machine and try again.

If that doesn't work, assuming you're on Windows 7, open Network and Sharing Centre and then 'Manage Network Connections'. Then right click on which ever connection you're using (wifi or ethernet) and select properties. Then select IPV4 / Internet Protocol V4 and change the DNS settings at the bottom to manual and enter the following:

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

Save those settings and try again.

Before doing all that ^^ try ping webmail.pomserve.com from a DOS prompt to test that the name resolves. If it does resolve then may be it's a routing issue. Try a tracert see what that says.

how do you access the e-mail portal page, do you click on a link and then it takes you to exchange and you put in your credentials?

i dont think virgin can help you set up a plumbing business mate they find it difficult enough to set up broadband
