Ask Stuart what he set the max advance to. Most likely 28degrees or so. Anyway rev it to 5,000rpm and check it with your strobe. Let us know.
Does it still run the same in all gears though ? will it still rev properly ? start the same ? pull away cleanly ? or does it seem sluggish, flat ?

could this be coming between the head and block?

water level had gone right down, temp went up alot. was fine till i hit 90,then it got really hot and i could smell the water, and the head has water marks all over it,around the spark holes, have checked pipes and thermo gasget and theyre fine,if i dont get to 90mph it doesnt use the water up though

theres no water exiting the pipe

no mayo in rocker cap

it sounds like your cooling system is not up to par (ie) have you got a 4 core rad ??

and say a 74deg stat helps matters

if you have not got enough capacity in the rad say you only have the standard mini rad

and then fire a turbo motor in which would generate more heat this could well cause overheating causing headgasket failures which has happend before

when you rr it at stuarts he will advise you untill then drive it steady:*wink*

been a few people on here jumped into turbo conversions then bailed as the going gets tough...

they're not something that can be chucked in and left and they need to be built properly.

rs turbo would be better as a daily driver id say.

I think the best option is say get a diesel for a run around

as say your daily work horse

and then the mini be done without rushing
you will get more fun and less aggro

and you would not get p****d off!

like iain says

When i say standard i mean it has a stage 2 turbo and superchip, full exhaust system running 17psi *tongue*

its had 172bhp on the rollers,so it aint slow!

dont get me wrong though, the mini is a wicked little car,but my one is def not for everyday use,and i cant afford to run 2 cars.

far from std then *happy*

i have to say i couldnt use my mini as an everyday car at all.

sure there are plenty of people who do but a 50mile round trip each day would annoy me! lol! plus id spend my spare time maintaining the thing!
