Last summer one of the biggest issues I had was overheating but only in traffic. So my thoughts were to add an electric fan but I have seen this.

fans are more efficient when pulling through radiators, so jsu tfit an electric one to compliment the mechanical one, if you dont the electric one will be working pretty hard and increases chance of a failure in the wiring or the fan itself :) turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

Also I'd say that fan kit is a fair chunk of dough,

I bought a brand new one from ebay for £20 and it seems good quality just type 10" 12v fan they're all similar I think, bit like the chinese rads... I'm going to probably see if it can cope without the mechanical fan... May try 2 push and pull |

Thanks for the replies I will keep the mechanical one and buy an electric one for the inner wing. I like the sound of this one on ebay 370292778903 if I want it to pull do I just wire it that way and it's as simple as that?

You have to be able to turn the blade around as well so that lovely curved shape is hitting the air the right way. Also if it has a modern brushless DC motor (I don't think that one does) it will not run backwards when you reverse the polarity anyway. And even if it is an older style brushed DC motor, often the brushes are offset at an angle to the commutator to prolong their life and if you run it backwards you severly shorthen its life. Good quality ones are sold as specifically either push or as pull for those reasons. Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ??? |

Thankyou for the replies and ideas I went for a revotec fan that fits between the inner wing and radiator. It is meant to replace the mechanical fan. I would love to get rid of the mechanical one for the noise more than anything! It comes with thermostat switch etc and an overide switch so shouldn't be any issues. If I find I have to fitthe mechanical one back on to aid cooling then it's no biggie. I will let you know how it goes |

I fitted a revotec last summer with a 2 core rad, tried it without mechanical fan but ran hot.Refitted mech fan and it worked fine as an auxillary fan only needed in trafic. But now with less than 800 miles the fan motor has failed, anybody else any problems with these. |
