Hi,

i have some work done on the engine and before i put it together
i need to make sure that there is no metal or dirt inside the block.

How can this be done?

I want to remove the brass plugs so i can blow air through it, but that will not get all the parts out. Perhapse some brake cleaner and a bruss?

Any tips would be welcome:)

Various length and sizes of pipe cleaners, bottle brushes.

Also I have pushed a clean rag through the gallery that runs parallel with the cam with a screwdriver.

You will need some sort of solvent but not sure if brake cleaner would be the best option.

Our coffeemachine at work has these for cleaning. So a block or coffeemachine*happy* It was the idee of my boss.

But what to use for solvent??????

Paraffin, Brake cleaner, engine degreaser, petrol, thinners, meths, anything like that will do the job.

Take a length of Bowden cable (brake cable) splay one end out a fair bit, put i it in through the oil gallery tidy end first and then put that end in your cordless drill chuck.Whiz it round a few times and flush out. I use a paraffin gun at 50psi, followed by degreaser and the pressure washer.
Finally, lots of WD or similar to displace the water

Well, i just started cleaning the inside off the block.
But whem i am done. What is the correct methode to get the new brass plugs back in the block?

I'm thinking of to put the brass plugs in the freezer and heat the block. I'm not planning to use any sealer. But any tips would be appriciated *Clapping*

If the plugs are sized right you should be able just to push them in with a hammer and drift. Freezing them may help a little but heating the block up enough to be worthwhile will be difficult.
