I bought this a few years ago as a Salisbury LSD
Is it one and if so what kind and can it be ajusted ?

It also has a JKD crown wheel (56) and Pinion (14)
Will this be Ok for an every day driver or will it be to harsh?

many thanks Darren

Im sure thats the one off ebay a few weeks ago?

It is Salisbury and its adjusted by putting shims inside between the main body and the clutch plates to stiffen it up or machine the body to free it up. Not an average DIY job though I have done it on mine.

Paul

Oh, and I wouldnt like to drive it every day, just most days in the dry

I seriously doubt it!

Id recommend a cross pin diff but if youre set on using the Salisbury you want it set about 55 - 60lbft (hardly worth it). You will need some of the inside of the case machined off so there is less pressure on the clutches

I seriously doubt it!

Count your teeth on the CWP again 56 and 14 makes 4, Im not so sure a 4.0:1 was ever made so you probably dont have a matched set of cogs

I seriously doubt it!

What would you do ? sell the Salisbury and get a cross pin then.
What about the JKD crown wheel and pinion (56) (14)

My Salisbury was set at 80lb when I drove it a lot and it was seriously hard work to keep in a straight line. From experience you need all the front suspension rose jointed so there is no movement other than up and down and the tracking set parrallel, otherwise when one wheel loses traction, on a manhole cover or wet patch, the car will steer in the direction the other wheel is pointing. If you have rubber mounted suspension and tracking set as standard, that one wheel that still has traction will not be pointing straight forward and you will be in a hedge or on the other side of the road. If you try to correct it you will make it worse.
Id sell it or build a race car

I seriously doubt it!

Hi Paul, Ive had a look and the Crown Wheel is 55 and the pinion is 14.
What should the pinion be to make a good match. Thanks Darren

55/14 is a match, it makes 3.92:1

I seriously doubt it!
