I've just installed the EDIS system on the mini, preparing it for the megajolt. It should run at a fixed 10 degrees advance with just the EDIS plugged in, I have spark, so popped the plugs in and it's just backfiring through the carb.

The plugs have been checked dozens of times and are on the right way around and right order, I've checked the polarity of the sensor dozens of times and its right.

Im not using resistive plugs, is that a problem?

It's got a spark though so I don't understand why it won't go, it ran off the dizzy ok.

Any suggestions, do I have to change the plugs?

resistive plugs are woth a go, you are emnt to use them with ecu's but som people get away with normal ones,

check the timing with a light, the 10 degrees is dependant upon the position of the sensor in relation to the missing tooth,

Sounds like the timing is not at 10 deg to me. Are you 100% the sensor is 10 teeth anti-clockwise from the missing tooth?

Just put some NGK R resistive plugs in and its still doing it.

Right I think i've confused myself with the sensor mounting, when at TDC where should the missing tooth be in relation to the sensor?

Im now starting to think my trigger wheel might not be bolted on properly. At TDC the missing tooth is 90 degrees before. My VR sensor is then pointing at the tooth before the missing one, is this correct, or have I got it wrong?

yep that sounds wrong,

at TDC no1 the missing tooth should be 90deg before the sensor,

for example looking from the rad end with the missing tooth at 12 oclock at tdc the sensor should be at 9 oclock

Yeah someone on TMF just gave me the answer, I've got to try adjust my sensor bracket to sir 90 degrees further forward on the wheel now. Cheers for the help, I know what need doing now atleast.

could be easier to mod the wheel?

I'd try filing in a new keyway 90 deg from the opriginal

Genius! that worked great, good idea, can I just confirm which tooth it has to read off at TDC, 90 degrees before, so 36 tooth wheel, that'd be tooth 9 before the missing tooth? My missing tooth is now sitting at TDC.

Ok got it all working great now, it's so much better than the dizzy. Just finishing up the installation, how do you attatch the hard rev limiter? It's soldered into the board unit just fine, but I don't know where it goes from the ECU.
