thinking about how im going to make the main mount for my turbo, and how much movement do you have to take acount for with thermal expansion. is it a case of a few thou or a few mm etc. anyway this is what im thinking of doing:

yes it is but its not to stop the engine pulling from the body its to allow for the expansion from the heat of the turbo and in theory stop the manifold cracking, im just not sure how far to go with it. On 17th Feb, 2011 apbellamy said:

I'd ditch the rubber bit and just bolt it together,

I'm going to use a double rose-jointed arm, like an adjustable engine steady, in the vertical plane so that it will take the weight but allow movement side-to-side or front-to-back. Saul Bellow - "A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep."

ok so the trick is just to not make the braket too thick to "move a little" under pressure, needs a little give? On 17th Feb, 2011 apbellamy said:

You could use one of these:

yes thats a good solution only problem is untill its all mocked up properly im not sure what height they need to be. ill have to finish mocking up and then get the bits, thinking i might get those ends and thread some bits of ally as then i can cut them to whatever they need to be?
