Was thinking today about getting some old second hand reclining seats and retro fitting the recling mechanisms into a spare pair of MK1 seats that I have in the loft then get new covers if it works.
Any thoughts?

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

Sounds heavy.

Doesnt matter Ben, the car is going to be semi - lightweight, around 650kg with around 130ish bananas.
I want it to be comfortable - the perfect MK1 daily driver

I seriously doubt it!

You say that now, but you can't help yourself...

Would it not be easier to just retrim the reclining seats to look like earlier ones. Less hacking about.

Too easy, Im looking for the challenge of doing it unless anyone has a good reason why not

I seriously doubt it!

All I would say is the reclining seats are not much cop if you are anywhere near 6'. The seats are so far back that if you recline it fouls the rear bins.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I might have a spare set of front seats if you need them?

I always liked the position of the fixed seats but that is just me; if it is going to make the car nicer to drive on a daily basis for you then go for it
