Does anybody have the poblem that is running metro turbo engine in a mini, of hard to start when hot. When the engine is up to running temp and then turned off and restarted 15mins later. The engine spins over really fast for while before starting. This is to the point where you think it is not going to start and then it fires up. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this. I thought it could be somethink to do with the heat from the turbo.

It's because the fuel evaporates in the float bowl when the Turbo is hot. Press the thottle down fully when cranking, obviously quickly let it off as the engine fires. This is the advise given in the Turbo handbook, & it works. |

Have you got a heat shield on your carb? Won't cure it, but will help On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

Turbominivanman has a little fan which runs after the engine stops, playing air over the carb, just to alleviate this problem.

Having an electric fuel pump could help i guess? Save your battery a little. The way my fuel pump works on my engine (N/A) is when the ignition is on its second click, the fuel pump has power, so it'll start pumping to fill the float bowl. Could be something to think about.
