i bought this off the net without mention of the dent.

am i right in thinking this is only where the spring is, and that the actuator should work normally?

yep, thats no problem as long as its not so big that it will effect its movement, it wont effect the pressure either

You can alwas check the operation with a foot pump to be sure.
