can you remove the box section which the seats sit on to lower the seat hight without strengthening the floor?

But you can make it lower.

mine is removed and floor is strengthened, it was not my choice to do it and if i change seats in the future it may well go back in

can you fit another say in the rear to make things abit more ridgid? i quite like the idea of side exit exhausts but dont want to loose body strenght

Yes.

eg MiniSpares part numbers 14A9533 (round tunnel) or CZH2675 (square tunnel).

Others sell them too, shop around.
