Hi,

I Need to do a small amount of filling and wondered if anyone could recommend a good body filler?

I have read some good reviews of "upol fantastic" which is a combined filler/stopper & is meant to give a nice finish.I dont need a bucket size tub or anything as its just to restore contours in a couple of areas on the mig shell, that said I dont mind buying more than I need if a good product is only available in decent size tubs.

Any recommendations welcome.

Cheers Ross.

I use U-pol stuff from the local paint supplier - not sure exactly which one but I know i've got a separate stopper

I've used U-pol in the past and had no problems - at the moment i tend to stick to using "Ultra Smart 2k", which is made by Tetrosyl. For a stopper i use a Max meyer single pack stopper - i've never really heard of a combined product to be honest - always thought a body filler should be a 2 pack product that you mix to suit - and the stopper was a single pack.....
I know the Max Meyer stuff i've got is only for thin use and very minor imperfections, you would be ill advised to use it at any level of thickness.
This probably won't help much, but if its made by u-pol and it's one you mix a hardener with, chances are it'll be fine!!

Use upol easysand at work and on little bitts on the car. Great finish with it and it's a good consistency to apply easily when fresh.

I think I worded my first post badly, the fantasic stuff you mix with a hardener but its fine enough not to need a stopper afterwards apparently.

Cheers Ross.

I use Upol fantastic and it does what it says on the tin. No issues with it at all.

Upol Easysand any day.

Best stuff I've ever used. Brilliant at knocking back with 80 grit and then go finer from there. Doesnt clog the paper up and is a bless to mix and apply.

Defo use a very thin finishing filler as a very light skim on top of the Upol.

Don't use Isopon or rubbish like that, stick to what's been recommened above by some of the guys.

Richard.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.

Stopper is used to fill pinholes, light scratches or any other similar imperfections, just before painting. Fibreglass/filler is notorious for leaving pinholes which are not the most noticeable - once you've cleaned and sprayed a layer of primer, you're usually left with a few dents/pinholes/scratches that you didn't notice before - Stopper is a single pack fine filler (No mixing), drys in a couple of mins and quickly and easily fills these before & after primer....
