Hi All

My Verto clutch is slipping when coming on boost in 3rd and 4th gear.

When i first got the car running the clutch was ok, and then i had it rolling roaded and increased the boost to 10 psi etc, and the clutch started to slip on boost in 3rd and 4th. So i thought ok maybe the clutch is worn and the extra bananas were'nt helping so decided to change the clutch and flywheel for the minispares 180mm extra 20% uprated verto clutch and a lightened flywheel.
Noticed whilst doing this that the oil seal behind the flywheel was weeping slightly so changed that as well. Put it all back together and run it down the road just to find it was slipping now and again, until one morning went out in it and it was perfect with no slipping.
This was great for about a couple of saturdays and then i decided to show off giving it full beans in 1st gear from a set of traffic lights and then it is slipping again on boost in 2nd 3rd and 4th so limped back home.
Took it out saturday just gone and it was not slipping when it was cold but after a few miles it started to slip again.

Is this a problem anyone has come across that can be remedied, or am i flogging a dead horse with this verto clutch, and should change to pre-verto?

Cheers
Matt

Do an RTS conversion to the verto clutch.

Search and the info is there:)

My verto clutch used to slip in 2nd with only 58bhp at the wheels with a 3.1FDR. Personally I would just run a diaphram clutch, but i know there's lots of people on here that run verto clutches so I wont suggest that *tongue*

Interestingly I have reached the same limit at 12psi on my 998. Just slipps occasionally.

From previous experience one the organic plates are hpt they never recover (until cold). Most of the time mine is ok.

My plan was to try a sintered plate, but I also have all the bits for an RTS conversion.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

Verto has a shot arm on the wok and the pre verto has a long arm

I would say RTS for that power or change to pre verto.

If you can hunt about, there are verto covers that are stronger. But they are just random. Totally random !!!

With a paddle plate some 17 years ago, my verto held 21psi no problem.

The diaphragm springs on it were significantly heavier than other covers though.
I was just lucky to be able to hunt through several and discovered the wide variation.

But the RTS does seem like the best way forward.

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will
