I need a new angle grinder and looking in eBay the 2 I have got it down to are:

Bosch

Makita

Hope the links work i haven't worked it out on iPhone properly yet.

Witch is likely to be the better one? I know they are both good names is there anything else in it?

Thanks. Dan

If the bosch is the same one as over here its got a prick of a guard. Youve got to line it up properly and slide it round in a groove. Doable but fiddly.
And i cant see the links to see which model it is.

In boost we trust

My Bosch has beenused and abused for over 5 years so far, but, having said that I also have an Ebay cheapy which, although noisy, is still going strong after 3 years.

Based on my experience I reckon the B and Q ones, which I used to be able to buy at £30 for two (!!) are best value.

Got mine from B&Q too, hard to beat the prices.

Ive a Black and Decker one and a cheap Powerpro or whatever their own brand is.

The trigger and lead on the cheap one are crap though. Best to buy a brand name.

I just bought a second as I was fed up swapping discs over.

For sake of £20 easier just to buy another grinder lol

I'd never use a cheep angle grinder; we used to use them all the time and they had a nasty habit of siezing and throwing discs off.

we bought Bosch after that and the only reason i've got a dwalt one now is because someone help themselves to the bosch

as for makita and bosch - probably 6 and half a dozen

Don't like bosh, so given the choice I'd go Makita.

I have a Hitachi, the only problem I have with it is it keeps loosing the bloody key to change the wheels!!

I ruined a bosh one in 2 years, but then that seems normal for me.

Replased it with a Makita, motor lasted 2 months. has been fine sinse the warrenty repair and I've used it a fair bit

Ive got a bosch pro one and had no probs with it. I got it because its the same as we use at work and they seem to last forever and they do get hammered. I did have a cheapy one before but the bearings went in that.

one day boost will be mine!

Sealey actually do a tidy universal key. I bought one a while back, was only £5 or something.

I have the same. A green bosch angle grind that just will not stop doing what it is supposed to, and I am even using the "extreme" discs that should not be used with angle grinded with lowish wattage, as mine...

I've got a pair of Dewalt ones, seem really really good.

Like loads of others have said the cheap ones aren't worth it.

Ive got 3 makitas, love them to bits, just keep on going no matter what you do.

Had both dewalt and makita stuff over the years, and will never buy dewalt again.

overprices crap. I had a mate who worked in an industrial tool shop, they sold makita, bosch, hitachi and dewalt. He said 70% of returns on broken powertools was dewalt, the rest pretty fairly split between the other 3.

Apparently dewalt have been bought out (im guessing that means the whole of black and decker has) so expect quality to go down again.

Have to agree with the last post, dewalt stuff ay work just does not seem to last at all, always loved makita, looked like I was sponsored by them at one point! bosch still do the best sds drills though. Our local b and q's had some aeg angle grinders on offer for ages, £30 reduced to £15, I bought 3 well before christmas they seem really good quality one has had a load of hammer since then no probs, had some aeg stuff before and bit oddball but cant fault it

I got a makita lxt limited edition drill :) ,a makita cord drill, makita orbital sander and a makita sabersaw, a Bosch grinder and a hitachi polisher all seem bullet-proof.

Interesting about dewalt as my dads a joiner and he used to swear by them but now I think of it he has had a lot of new tools sent back more than once aswell.

Over the last 20 years Ive blown up loads of Bosch and Makita so I just buy cheap £15 grinders from Wickes or B&Q now.
My theory is a £100 grinder lasts say 12 months and a cheap one lasts 3 months but you can have 6 cheap ones for the price of an expensive one which in total last 18 months = more for your money

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

Fair enough, our bosch blew up once but we got a part that was under a fiver, replaced it and it's been going ever since, bulletproof. So in that case buy 1 dear one and buy the valid parts eveytime and it could be even cheaper for you Paul. :)

Not very sunny swanage

We use loads of them at work, one of the lads absolutely loves the dewalt we've got, personally i think its the most hateful piece of shit ive ever had the misfortune of using, and ive got a £15 b&q grinder!!

The vast majority of the rest of them are bosch professional and they are lovely, if i ever start doing a lot of work at home i will get a couple of these......

Ive also got a nice makita at home, a bit less power iirc, but the smoothest running grinder ive ever used!!

And on the 7th day........... God created turbochargers!
