Well, typically I'm paranoid about car purchase and check everything religiously, but this time...

Looks like the new motor (Metro turbo engine) hasn't got the best of oil pressure. when hot its about 40 psi running dropping to a few PSI at tick-over. I'm going to check the oil pressure relief value tonight, as I've had them stick slightly open before.
My question is this, How does the turbo gets its oil, as well as the usual engine damage, will the turbo suffer because of the low oil pressure?

durham area

Turbo also gets its oil from main gallery but if pressure is only dropping of at tickover the turbo wont be producing boost so shouldnt be to bad,*surprised*

love that straight cut scream!!!

same as mr estate says

but the problem will lie with worn bearings on the mains and pins

if the crank checks out OK

just re shell this and fit An

"AVONBAR" oil pump as this is the one to fit

highley recomended

When it comes to the mini engine and oil pressure, Low pressure = low volume and low volume in the turbo bearings is going to cook the oil going through them, NOT GOOD as this just cokes up the internals and stops the oil getting where it needs to be.
If you've got low oil pressure check all the usual and if they look OK it's time to yank the motor and change a few things get the pressure back up to what it should be.

Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe.

Well first step is the pressure relief valve and new oil.
20-50 was always what I used to use on Minis. IS that OK for the turbo, or does it like something a touch lighter?

I've been using Comma 15w-40 and changing it every 3-4000 miles.
