after trying to fit up the exhaust on the car yesterday, it turns out my system and downpipe have the same external diameter of 52mm so I'm looking for either a section of 52mm ID pipe approx 150mm long to make a sleeve.

You will find it tricky to find 2" internal, however what you can do is find a custom type exhaust place, and get them to stretch a bit of 2" OD pipe with pipe expanders so it is a nice sleeve fit. Then weld one side to your downpipe, the other stays as a sleeve fit to the system, bosh job done!

Or ask them if you can raid their old exhaust pipe skip and cut a piece off yourself.
Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.
