I'm in the middle of a 998t conversion. I have a NA MG cam to fit with vernier gear. I don't want to take the engine out to change the cam. I know i have to pull the followers first or loose them forever, then off with the old timing gear, old cam out and new cam in? timed to 108 degrees on number one. I cant remember if there is a removable section on the oil pump end?? or am i thinking of the spider drive??

no no no no, you need more boost! you can never ever come on here and say I have enough boost, that's just silly.

I dont know how you will be able to hold the followers clear of the cam to allow it to be withdrawn, but I,m sure if it can be done someone on here will tell us.
The usual way is to invert the engine so you could always invert the car if you don,t want to take the engine out !.

998 has a tappet cover no?

if not turbodave had the best idea of 8 cheap telescopic magnet pickup tools from a £1 stall *smiley*

Ah, I see - its so long since I worked on anything other than 1275,s I forgot that some engines have the old (usually leaky) side covers)

As long as you have ab A+ with slot drive then it will work as you say.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

the design shows a distinct lack of imagination,
talk about starting off with a clean sheet of paper, then not bothering to fucking draw on it,lol

I'm mainly concerned about swirl in the runners caused by the tangential entry.

I seem to recall reading in one of my reference books that the works team used to cut out the inner wing to enable this very process
