any ideas about this problem from my other thread.....

"water level had gone right down, temp went up alot. was fine till i hit 90,then it got really hot and i could smell the water, and the head has water marks all over it,around the spark holes, have checked pipes and thermo gasget and theyre fine,if i dont get to 90mph it doesnt use the water up though

theres no water exiting the pipe

no mayo in rocker cap "

now im guessing its shooting out from betwwen the head and block,as im running a 998 radiator on 1275 turbo, got a 2 core today. if it is leaking from there its not leaking into the bores as theres no exhaust smoke/water steam.

could this loose me power or is it simply squirting water out but not effecting performance???

and is this a common problem when using a shitty radiator?

*wink*ganna have to change the h-gasget now i guess anyways.

cheers for all the help *wink*

could be the cause of the lack of power. just hope it hasnt done any damage running it hot. should be ok though id guess.

have the head off and look around carefully and let us know what you see *smiley*

like we have talked about before dan

thats the problem not enough cooling

like iain says it may have wiped the head gasket out again!*frown*

fit the rad and see how you go

by the way have you got a temp gauge in?

also fit a 74 deg stat

always keep your eye on the temp gauge dan*wink*

this tells you whats going off under the bonet!*happy*

well i just went home for lunch, fired her up and she was misfiring..anyway drove her home, noticed temp gauge was going up again.parked it up,un done the rocker cap and the old mayo was started to appear, also has some bubbling hot mayo in there too.

so,its gota be the head gasget,il whip it off tonight and change it,could this be why it didnt feel as quick after the gearbox change??

ben, always got my eye on the temp guage dont you worry *wink*

looked in cyl 4 and you can see waters been in there,i got it home just in time really as it was getting worse on my way theree, but wasnt smoking. must of been just holding together

i wonder how long its been leaking, thats why i thought it cant be the head gasget making it slower,as it wernt overheating or anything

i dunno..... :$

Heh - similar experience here actually. Oddly enough I have no probs with the 4 core rad, but i've got electric cooling (Pacet) and a cast waterpump (you did use the cast impeller pump?) + and oil cooler + the old heater matrix fitted as a secondary front cooler (not sure how effective this is).
I suspect that the killer would be up-rating things further, then i'd need another rad.

Runs flat at the line (on the temp gague) all day, except when the gasket went and then i caught it before it got anywhere near the red.

(RAC are wonderful people at getting you home - had my money's worth twice over now!)

Good luck if the block/head havent been completely shagged *smiley*
