Should just be an ordinary relay - Halfords or local spares shop job!

Can you post a picture and we can confirm?

Scruffy, the SPi Relay pack is a bespoke Rover item. It contains four relays and has two connectors, a small connector for the coil ciruits and a larger connector for the power circuits.

jeffrypang911 I can help you with the large connector. The terminals on the other hand are a bit more difficult to find. You can get terminals that will fit, but they do not have the wire seals. I can point you in the right direction for those. The relay packs, I'm not going to let go since they are seemingly getting harder to find in good used condition, But I am sure I saw a couple on ebay in the last week.

I must have shorted something as I cracked open the relay and there was a huge burn mark and smelled horrid as well. My first hint was the connector - it melted a bit and browned the face!

I don't know if the connector will malfunction, but I know the relay is toast.

The most likely cause is that the manifold heater has failed with a dead short or, the wire itself has come loose and melted to the exhaust. Check the spade connector on the manifold heater, if it is also similarly scorched brown, you need to be looking at the heater element too, otherwise you will fry the new relay pack.
