Ok I am ready for the wooping.
Now that I went out and got a second midget.I have be told I now have his and HER"S.But her's need to be a little more refined. So that means no cranky carbs (she wound never find or use the choke cable)Its got to be woman thing.I was reading some on SPI and this my be my answer. But I am on the wrong side of the pond.So the factory stuff is out.And if understand it the mini intake and midget will fit,but I may not get the bonnet closed.
So I was thinking about using a megasquirt. And I have a hif44 that I read that somebody was using it as a throttle body.I know it will not be the ideal set up,but it will should run and get her down the road.
Now I will need to rebuild the motor. So would a scatter pattern cam be a better camchaft.I do want a little more power to help get over some step hill. And Just in case I ever get to drive HER car someday.*happy*

I'd just stick with the su, a mild cam and have done with it. My old engine with a 285 cam and a webber was easy to drive so an su and something like a 266 cam should be a doddle to drive.

Why not use a mini mpi set up with standard ecu? If your not after big power? Seems alot easier than trying to make a su work as a throttle body.

Just to check, this will be a N/A setup right?

I have seen SU's with the dashpot removed and a plate screwed on with an injector on, this could be a good route for you, It may be lower too and fit under the bonnet line.

what I am envisiging is a new "dashpot" with a pair of injectors and an idle stepper valve, the injectors will be atmosperic side of the trottle plate so the mixture will get mushed more at low throttle openings.

yep thats what I was looking to try to joe.I dont think she needs a turbo so n/a is all she will get.I seen the specialist-components it looks nice but I dont think the manifold will fit under the hood of the midget.Plus the exchange rate on the dollar and the shipping ouch. And with the meqasquirt I can get here in the states.

Sprocket on here has had good results from injecting in this way (although he used factory SPI parts IIRC)

Paul S on here has done a lot of development on port injection with the injectors close to the head, moving the injection timing to counter port robbing, there is an overview of his work...

You can use any HIF44 compatible manifold with the SC kit. But yes perhaps a touch pricey if you are importing.

I have one, its between 5mm and 10mm lower than a HIF44.

lol

my dad knew a garage where some old lady came in saying she was using loads of petrol in her anglia...

said anglia was checked out and no problem found, after she came back a few times saying it was still the same somone thought they go up the road with her to see if it was somthing to do with her driving....

they got in and she pulled the choke out and hung her handbag on it!

ok I am looking for injectors. But how do you know what the spray pattern is?where the best place to find injectors? The megasquirt web site calculation calls for a 22 to 25 lbs/hr injectors.

Info for std injectors can be difficult to get hold of, i think this link is your best bet.

http://users.erols.com/srweiss/tableifc.htm

Pattern wise i think anything apart from a std cone spray shape is fairly unusual, also injecting a long way from the intakes I wouldn't overly worry about the pattern.

From the link above there are a few from ford V6's & v8's that are the right sort of size, i'd expect you could pic up a set of those cheaply, then give them a quick squirt to check the pattern and pick the best ones.

also I'd over size the injectors a bit, I'd look at 28-30 lb
