Hi guys,

Been speaking to northampton motorsport about a rollin road set up an with road tax insurance fuel etc just running the car over summer is looking mega pricy so somethings going to have to go.
Seems every else I have to have by law ita looking like the rolling road.
My question is will I be able to get close tuning the car with a wide lambda sensor and a gauge with some form of logging caperbilty? Keeping in mind I need to also tweak my megajolts map as well and it's bike carbs not a well proven hif44.
Or will I be thowing good money after bad and I should just quit eating and get the car set up by a pro?

From my experience, a rolling road tune is worth every penny

Shropshire.

You can get close with a wideband, there is a good guide on here about WOT, throttle position to needle position and what to take off where.

The rr guy only has a wide band, so you have the tools. What you don't have is the ability to hold a certain load.

However, you have a time limit on a rr, driving around you have as long as you like. If you know what you are doing wit hthe carbs, then just using a wideband is an acceptable route.

None of my road cars have had a rr session to set them up.

Yep you will get close with a wideband.. In fact i would argue that you are better tuning it yourself with a wide band before even going to a rolling road. The you are just tweeking for power and not developing a map.

Been looking at getting a wide band lambda set-up myself just to see if I can set it up myself.

If in doubt... flat out! The words of a true legend

my car is only tuned on the road :), do your homework, take your time (very easy to rush and up the boost lol) and you can get it done. the hardest part by far is sorting the ignition timing, this is somehting that makes or brakes an engine, and should really only be done on the rollers but with time on your side can be done on the road.

Cheaper to have session on the rollers than an engine rebuild

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
