Just measured my cam timing to be 106.5?

Running a MED T3 cam (see specs) I thinks its the same as the Avonbar phase 2 cam.

The data says time it at 110?, but I know a lot of people use a 108?.

Do you recon 106.5 is too far advanced or should I stick with it?

Im running a T2 turbo and 1.5:1 rockers and a maximum of 1 bar of boost if this makes any difference.

Cheers people :)

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

106.5 is a bit earrrrly...................
better to time the cam in as per spec

but i would ditch the 1:5 rockers with a cam so radical for turbo application

it only ads to the caminess and valve train wear massivley.....................................................................

kent do a 260 in 268 exaust i find this cam fantsatic which i run myself with standard rocker ratio*happy*

its simlar to the mg profile but gives slightley.....
better power spread

i think with the T2 you have,

these two would make a wonderful combination as long as you have not gone too radical in the head mods*wink*

having wrestled with cam profiles especialy for turbo applications
it pays not to go too racey especialy for the road *wink*

say over the above cam i have just mentioned,

because the BLOWER will fill the cylinders EASILY*happy**wink*

it all depends what you want and how much manners you want from the engine!

one chap had your cam and a T3 with big valve head with the port throats open out MASS

it made poor HP lower down but when it came on cam the power surge made in a beast to drive very unpleasant.

hope i have not peeeeeeeeeeeed on your bonfire
but a thought a would add my oppinion*smiley*

Not the end of the world mike, rockers are easy to change, and easy to sell as all the NA mini boys want them!

it's best to do tests, with it as is and with it in a diffent place, as what should work doesn't always!

Mine deffo made more power with the 1.5, but at the expense of drivability lower down... I like the higher lift 'area under the curve' from 1.5 rockers however, so i'll be keeping 1.5's when I swap the the MG/kent 500 cam.

i would go with miniwilliams on that one, try it out i may work well, as with all tunning you never no as all engine specs are different so one engine may like 110 but another may like 108, but you never no unless you try it.

but hey thats what tunning motors is all about.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

avonbar's sheet with the phase 2 said 1.3 rockers, shall i sell my 1.5's and go for 1.3 or will 1.5 be just as good/better or possibly worse?

me personally! mike i would use 1.3s ratio

like turbodave said his made more power but at the expence of drivability lower down!

plus thers the added EXCESSIVE valvet train wear to think about using 1.5s

its up to you buddy

seems to be the single bigest wear probs on all engines when using 1.5 rockers, knackered lobes and followers
