Who here has a website?
How much traffic do you get and what traffic allowance does your host give? any penalties for too much traffic?

My sites 300mb in size, i get 10,000mb a month traffic, although it might be 20 (trying to find out!) If it is 10 i had 5 in the first three days of this billing period
Last month i got stung for an excess traffic charge that was more than my annual hosting
Analysing the traffic showed i was getting in the order of 200 hits a day to some of my vid files from search engines, around 1000 page impressions a day
Whats the best way to reduce it? I've renamed the main vid page, which should kill the links to that, do i rename each vid, or can i block the search engines somehow??
Or can i make some money off this traffic, which would be nice :)???

videos are evil. I almost had a ?2000 bill the other day, just because someone who's site i host had a 60mb video on it.. nasty. my advice - remove the vids. Ask Minimark where he keeps his, he always seems to host them!

this site uses around 25gb/month

mines on blueyonder , but i remove old vids ,only keep about 10mb on the site , basically chop and change the vids

Everyone knows that instructions only have to be read if the thing doesn't work....

change your host....

easyspace have no limits on bandwidth!!!!

Think I'll remove them and email or upload on demand with a short taster for people to see. Its just in the last two months its gone mad.
Most of the traffic is coming from yahoo, but i cant work out what's being searched for to point to me, apart from Carl Austin, the vid thats taking the most hits is nondescript.

Have small sample vids, and sell a video cd of all the footage ?
Any profit can then be spent on my car ! sorted !
