ive got a dizzy which is marked up as a metro turbo challenge dizzy, it has no vac advance unit. how can i find out exactly what it does?

any one could of etch'd it with 'metro turbo challenge' so when it comes time to fit it i dont want to do so blindly, if you know what i mean.

If the dizzy is in an engine: Use a strobe light and measure what advance you have at 1000 rpm. Repeat this every 500 rpms up to about 4000. Compare these figures with what you reckon a metro challenge dizzy should be providing.

Its not fitted at the moment and it will be a few months till it is.
is there a company that I could send it to who could test it perhaps?

It was prob done by them in the first place.

finally remembered to email aldon last night and got a reply this afternoon, as its engraved 3 of 90 they believe its one of there's although other companies did make some for the series as well. the info theyve given me is
0 deg @ 500 rpm
8 deg @ 2500 rpm
12 deg @ 3250 rpm.
i presume that is the max advance of the distributor, so with only 12 deg advance just how much boost were the cars in this series running?
and how might this distributor behave on a road engine?

edit: ive had a search, they were running 10psi with 8.65:1 cr with no intercooler. so is the low advance because of the inlet temps?

Advance curve details
0 deg -500rpm
8 deg -2500 rpm
12 deg - 3250 rpm
Above are distributor degrees.

thats copied from the email,
so if i was to physically turn the dizzy to give say 8 deg at 1500 rpm then at that rpm that would of used up 4 deg's of the mechanical advance (if the advance between 500 rpm and 2500 rpm was 1 deg to 250 rpm, 2000rpm /8deg's) so then the remaining mechanical advance of the dizzy added to the 8 deg's timed in at would then give me 16 deg's total at 3250 rpm ???? is this right or am i way off here???
