Now Im not a fan of the Metro 6R4 look, and the standard look is a little hard on the eyes, but, for some reason, I think this looks pretty good! Kind of R5 Gordini esque

i like them both, think the metro needs slightly bigger wheels. Also they need to wider at the back to fill the body kit.

I seen a twin turbo metty a shelsy Walsh speed hill climb couple years ago, was rapid and sounded awesome, hard to believe that engine is what they used in the xj220.

Indeed, even harder to belive it was based on the rover v8.

The chap said the 6r4 lump woud be putting out about 850hp.

you should have seen the other engines in there being built... BDT's BDA's, YB's, BMW F1, renault F1, DFV, Hart, Hyabusa turbo,

Indeed V,

IIRC if you can find a pic of the engine in the above red metro its a v 6 pushrod engine.

The intial prototype engine (according the story I read in a mag years ago) was a Rover V8 run through a bandsaw, with the end welded up.
It was on the dyno during a visit by some Honda bigwigs and the engine shop people were desperate to stop them seeing it. Once the visitors had spotted it and been told what it was, they abandoned the rest of the planned visit, removed their suit jackets and dived into the dyno room because it was more interesting !

The progess of the 6R4 development was used in a bad never repeated ITV drama series - Driving Force I think it was.

Metric is for people who can't do fractions.

heres some footage of the prototype in action,

Also after some googling there were two engin types, the early v62v based on the v8, and the later v64v which was williams designed.

The metro is ok but the turbo 2 is awesome. Love a old Renault : )
