Currently the car is pretty much a shell and has no dashboard or rails fitted. The pedals are also loose.

Is there a magic, years of experience, easy, simple way of fitting the brake and clutch master cylinders to the pedals or is it find a thin bloke and get him to struggle for beer?

if you haven't dropped the split pin ten times, (bonus points for a clevis pin too) banged your head on the dash rail, developed lower back pain from contorting in an un-natural manner and uttered language that would make small children cry, you haven't done it properly...!! :)

in fact, someone else and beer sounds like a good call....

Sounds just about right to me.

I once got the clevis in ,forgot about the split pin and ,days later drove the car. Did about 30 miles and just before I got home had the brake pedal go almost to the floor -luckily it hooked up with the pushrod enough to stop me.

Looks like my beer bribe is the best policy then. I will be making sure the split pins are in that's for sure! It will need good brakes.. assuming it doesn't explode the first time I open it up...

Warwick.

needle nose pliers are a godsend... with having a fucked clevis pin and not realising i took mine out 4 times in 1 day scratching my head...got pretty good at it in the end, its not too difficult as long as the clevis holes are lined up. i used a long allen key, long arm and angled allowed me to chase the key back thru with the clevis held in the pliers, the split pins easy after that faff too, doesnt have to be folded back on itself either really just opened to stop it passing through

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Chasing the allen key through...That sounds like a good plan. Cheers. My bribed assistant will thank you.

@Sprocket:

Cheers, I reckon I can make one of those before breakfast! After the last suggestion I was thinking about allen key x2, one to hold everything in place and one with a clevis pin glued to the end of it... but now I have two options to go at.

R clips are already on the shelf as a last resort. I just never feel totally confident they won't drop off at some point. Every time I hit the brakes I'll be seeing an R clip mirage in the footwell....

I used an R clip once, never again since I found it kicking around my footwell, I have no idea how long it had been there for too. *surprised*
