right,

my car came off the road a few months back due to carb probs, now fixed.

starter was engaging with the flywheel, but very slowly. this was with two battires and a jumpstarter.

so, ive fitted a new starter motor. but now it wont engage with the flywheel, just spins.

tryed so far:

hitting the starter motor

new earth

pushing the car in gear, flywheel spins

sparkplugs out

pumping the clutch.

pr-verto starter, checked its the right one.

fully charged battery and jumpsrarter.

any other ideas i could try. going to tow it later and see if i can get it going that way. *oh well*

What type of starter is it, inertia or pre engaged?

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

it's inertia. You need to whip it off and try it on the garage floor. Check the throwout throws out (by hand then when you spin the motor)

yes, jou need to earth the body and then put 12v to the terminal. stick it in a vice though or you risk it going dancing accross the floor
