Why do you want to take the driveshafts of,just split the top ball joint and the trackrod end.

To undo driveshaft, remove wheel take splitpin out,put wheel back on and car on floor use a socket through hole in middle of wheel big bar and a mate on the brake peddel

eh? dont even need to do that, took mine out today without doing it, just jacked the engine up a little, popped each pot out.then lifted the engine out. jobs a goodun, it's a little trickier getting the engine back in but still do-able

so just leave it and pull the engine up???

i took the pin out and slapped it on the floor but with no brakes attached (different story) the wheels were just skidding on the floor lol

Cheers

just lift the engine with the crane a little bit, then when its up enough to woble the engine side to side, pop out one pot joint then move the engine over and do the other un. best tool ive found is a crowbar to lever em out. or a jack handle and lump hammer.

Is it a left-hand thread? you might be turning it the wrong way.

But as above, you don't need to do this to get the engine in and out anyway.

There is only one left hand thread on a Mini, and that's on the left rear hub!

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

I wasn't sure about the left-hand thread, it's years since I took a fron hub apart. I knew about the back one.

if you NEED to get that nut off, what i do is drill down the nit twice 180 degrees apart in the shallow bit of the castle(if u know what i meen) then whack down them with a chizel. nut fall soff effortlessly. naturally you need a new one after this!

however for removeing engiens i usuial yjsut pop the top balljoint and pop the inner CV's out the 'box. but i have done it without popping any of the ball joints, but its alot more fidly. for all the tim you save by not popping the balljoints.
