Chaps,

what do you have your spax/ gaz etc shocks set to on your ROAD cars?

I'm currently running 4 front and 2 rear on 10" rims.

Cheers,

Choppo *wink*

I learnt it the hard way.......got spax for the first time aged 18, guy in shop recommended 'x' clicks (can't remember number) to get std stiffness, I thought "arse to that" so put all 4 as hard as they would go.
All was good and like a go kart until I came onto a large roundabout a bit quick and had a large moment narrowly missing a HGV.......needless to say I stopped on the side of the road and turned them down a bit....

i found out the the shocks were already "closed" thats why no matter how hard i pushed they wouldnt budge... which brings me to my next question, whne you close the shock, is it not supposed to come back up?? cause these stay exactly as i leave them.... inst this a sign that they are shot???

No, this is a damper, not a spring. That's OK. I know some dampers will "go out" after being compressed, but not all.

So, what is your hole weight?

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

oh ok...so that means they are fine then. another quick question, on one of the dampers, when i turn the screw that you use to make it harder or softer. it doesnt click, and just keeps turning.. any ideias?

On the lots of point adjustables (lowered). I set the back about 2/5 of the front. Favourite setting is fronts dead hard. I can't remember the back clicks number now, or how I also set up my tyre pressures, which is the pressure required to get "the right" tread patch at rest. Tyre pressures are also mega important also.

It's pseudo science, but it works.

Bugger off, I'm getting there.

You cannot turn them too far and fuck them.

If, however, you can turn them forever then they are likely to be fucked. This fault is unlikely to have been caused by operator error, more likely something has broken with use/age.

Just because to things seem related, and someone says they are don't always believe it.

I'm with Wolfie though, Spax or equivelent are too hard for road use.

what would you consider to be a good shock for a lowered road car then?
